There is a potentially life-changing event in Colorado Springs today. Kim and I are going to be a part of it. Focus on the Family and New Life Church are putting on a conference called Wait No More. Currently, there are 700+ orphans in the Colorado foster care system. Focus on the Family has a ministry called The Orphan Care Initiative, whose goal is to encourage the church to adopt all the orphans around the United States. All Colorado needs is one member in 1/4 of the churches in Colorado to adopt one child from the foster care system and there would not be any more orphans in CO. Hopefully after this conference (which expects to host more than 1000 people), more states and their churches will take on this challenge as well.
I look forward to letting everyone know how the conference goes today. Maybe someone reading this will take the challenge to get this conference to their state sometime soon! One of my fellow Softballers (yes, that is the name of my current community softball team) is heading up The Orphan Care Initiative (icareaboutorphans.org) department at Focus. I would be happy to get you in touch with her if you are interested in making this happen in your state. James 1:27.
